SCD's Custom Design Shop was established to open up great possibilities in converting deerskin hides into useful everyday products. Working with artisans from the Midwest your hides will be handcrafted into fine works of art - custom made just for you. Most every item you see listed in the online store is available at reduced prices if you supply the hides. Choose from a wide array of jackets, coats, gloves, mittens, purses, accessories and more.

Hides can be traded for the color of your choice or you can choose to have something small made with the same hides you turn in. What a great reward for all your hard effort. Trading Deerskin for Product

Each deer hide is carefully coded and identified. The hide is electronically measured and will be marked with the sizing information. An assessment is made of the useable footage for producing products. Areas of scars and clustered holes are deducted from the total measured size. The adjusted measurement is used when determining which hides to use while producing products. Here are some guidelines in determining how many hides it takes to make certain products based on the average deerskin of 9 sq. ft. Please understand that many variables can affect useful square footage such as size and quality of hides, size of garment and alterations required. If you supply more than what is needed for your specific order, the unused hide or a credit slip for unused footage will be returned to you. If you do not send enough leather we will contact you to see if you want to send in more or make an additional purchase.

JACKETS: 6-8 Deerskins

FULL LENGTH COATS: 8-10 Deerskins

GLOVES & MITTENS: 1-2 PAIR 1 Deerskin

PURSES: 1-3 Deerskin depending on size of purse

DUE TO IRREGULARITIES IN COLLECTED HIDES ORDERS CANNOT BE MADE FROM HUNTER'S OWN HIDES WITH THE EXEPTION OF GLOVES.

Special Sizing and Pattern Changes

OVERSIZE GARMENTS- Men's and Women's 2XL add 10%. If over 2XL, call for special quote. A full set of complete measurements will be necessary when requesting price quotations including height and weight.

GARMENT LENGTH CHANGES- Lengths indicated in catalog will be furnished on all garments unless otherwise specified when ordering. SHORTENING: 1-2" ADD $7.00, LENGTHENING: 1-2" ADD $18.00, ADDITIONAL INSIDE POCKET: $16.00.

OPTIONAL GARMENT LININGS- Prices quoted include a high quality rayon satin lining unless otherwise specified in the catalog description. Optional Jacket Linings- SATIN TO POLYESTER SHERPA PILE: +$30, SATIN TO QUILTED RAYON SATIN: +$30, SNAP-IN SNAP-OUT LINING: $50.00
